In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Many Bay Area bands are heading down to Austin to take part in South by Southwest madness this month. While that may mean that more locals are away, it also means more opportunities to see emerging artists on pre- and post-SXSW tours, including international buzz bands like Madrid’s Hinds and London’s Happyness. Both of those bands are younger than London-based 2:54, but that group hasn’t visited the U.S. since supporting the XX three years ago.

On the local music front, four of the five SF bands featured in this podcast are releasing new albums this month. Sabertooth Zombie‘s Human Performance IV completes a four-release series for the North Bay band, with a sound mixing psychedelic and hardcore elements. Sea Dramas actually made their new LP, Beware the Ephemeral, twice. After hearing one of their songs as recorded by Papercuts’ Jason Quever, the group scrapped their home recordings and re-did the whole album with him. Also check out new music from Growwler and Sporting Life in the mix.

Finally, The Seshen don’t have any new album release this month, but we’re so excited about the Oakland band’s stellar electronic indie pop that they’ll be playing at The Bay Brewed, our rock ‘n’ roll beer festival later this month.

Enjoy the podcast… and then go see some concerts!
