Prescott School, an elementary school in West Oakland, was founded in 1869.

On Tuesday evening, the Oakland Unified School District board will vote on whether to close it and seven other schools, and consolidate six more schools in the district over the next two years.

Prescott has a lot of history: The amazing Ida Louise Jackson, Oakland's first Black teacher, taught there.
