The Oakland City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday night to decriminalize the use of magic mushrooms.

Oakland is now the second city in the United States to OK the use of psychoactive plants and fungi after Denver kicked things off.

Before you accuse the City Council of trying to relive the era of Grateful Dead Oakland Coliseum appearances, understand that nowadays people are touting "etheogenic plant practices" as a way to overcome depression, addiction and post-traumatic stress.
