President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration is just two weeks away, and Republican leaders are wasting no time defining their first order of business: dismantling the Affordable Care Act. Gutting the ACA could have huge ramifications in California, where more than a third of its residents are covered under Medi-Cal, which the ACA helped to expand. Berkeley’s new mayor, Jesse Arreguin, has made history as the city’s youngest mayor and the first Latino to hold the post. Arreguin takes the reins at a challenging time for the city, as Berkeley grapples with a growing homeless population, housing affordability problems and uncertainty about its sanctuary city status under the incoming Trump administration. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf Names New Police Chief
