This live-action program follows the exploits of Wishbone the dog and his human friends, Joe, David and Samantha through their adventures in their hometown of Oakdale. Wishbone's everyday experiences trigger his imagination and he finds himself in scenes from classic works of literature.

David, who becomes an egotistical artist's assistant, and Pip learn the valuable lesson of never forgetting their true friends just because of short-term status gained when they are both betrayed by the wealthy, snobbish women they have been trying to impress.

This episode revolves around Wishbone's trip to the veterinarian and Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Black Arrow", a novel which uses the historical War of the Roses as a backdrop for a story filled with murder, romance, and treachery. Richard Sheldon, played by our favorite dog, discovers his trusted guardian is his father's murderer and the captor of the woman he loves. The program jumps back and forth between Richard's quest to save Joanna and Wishbone's search for his favorite chair, accidentally given away by Wanda. In the end both are successful in the ir pursuits.
