This year's Leon Panetta 2014 Lecture Series will focus on the theme Learning the Lessons of History - Is the Past Prologue to the Future? Each of the events will be held at the Monterey Conference Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Secretary Panetta will moderate.

Mary Schapiro, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (invited) and John Snow, former secretary of the Treasury (invited) discuss the issues.
Mary Schapiro served as the 29th chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and was the first woman to be the agency's permanent chairman. From 1988 to 1994, Ms. Schapiro served as a commissioner of the SEC. She was appointed to the post by President Ronald Reagan, reappointed by President George H.W. Bush in 1989, and named acting chairman by President Bill Clinton in 1993.
John Snow, served as the 73rd secretary of the Treasury working closely with President George W. Bush. Secretary Snow's previous public service included several high-ranking positions in the Department of Transportation during the Ford administration where he led the efforts to reform regulation of the motor carrier, airline, barge and rail industries.
