Happy Birthday Sir! - It is Sir Topham Hatt's Birthday. He tells Thomas to take Winston, his new track vehicle, with him on his jobs. Sir Topham Hatt wants Winston to see what it's like to be a Really Useful engine. Salty and Edward tell Thomas and Winston of when a younger Fat Controller would travel from station to station on his birthday in his favorite open top carriage, sharing birthday cake with the passengers on the platform. Thomas and Winston set off on his rounds. Winston trails off and Thomas is cross. Thomas makes Winston travel in front of him. Winston does so, but rolls along very slowly - looking to left and right. Thomas bumps into the back of Winston and derails him! But Winston is excited! At last, Thomas lets Winston tell him that he has been looking for the open top carriage and he thinks he has found it.

Look & Listen (#1001H) Duration: 28:46 STEREO TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)
Thomas & Friends has sparked the imagination of young children for generations with classic stories of adventures from the railways on the Island of Sodor. Born from a literary tradition, the CG-animated series supports children aged 2-5 as they develop important social-emotional skills and helps to build an early foundation for preschoolers' success. Thomas & Friends is based on the much-loved books by Rev. W. Awdry, who created Thomas the Tank Engine to entertain his young son Christopher when he was in bed with the measles. The series features Thomas, a true blue engine friend who proudly wears the "#1" on his side. He's joined by a cast of track stars, including James, Percy, Emily, Henry and Gordon, as well as Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway, who keeps everything running smoothly. Thomas's world is a place with a strong community spirit, typified by a universal willingness to embrace good manners and hard work -- and a desire to be "really useful." Each episode -- comprised of two animated stories, a live-action segment, and a music video -- is designed to delight children while helping to foster their social and emotional development. As young viewers join Thomas and his engine friends on exciting adventures, they experience timeless life lessons of discovery, cooperation, and friendship.
