Grateful Dead: The Closing of Winterland
This program celebrates the last concert at the famed rock and roll palace and captures the energy and spirit of the 60s and 70s. Twenty five years ago, New Years Eve, 1978, the Grateful Dead played to a standing room only crowd of 5400 fans. Dubbed Winterland's house band, the Grateful Dead performed from midnight until 6am, including three encores. Interspersed throughout the concert, drummer Mickey Hart and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Bob Weir talk about the band's favorite Winterland moments. This concert was originally broadcast live by San Francisco's Public TV station KQED, and is the only recorded concert video of the Grateful Dead produced in the 70s.

In a Parisian whirl of elegant ladies, eligible bachelors, Maxim's can-can dancers and ever-flowing champagne, Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow has long delighted audiences with its effervescent tale of suitors seeking the coveted hand of wealthy widow Hanna Glawari. This charming English-language production from the San Francisco Opera features an internationally acclaimed cast and additional dialogue by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein.
Great Performances: Othello
Modern dance master Lar Lubovitch has created a vibrant new interpretation of Shakespeare's classic tale of passion and jealousy, ambition and betrayal with Othello, a dance in three acts. Desmond Richardson, one of America's premiere dance talents, dances the lead in a lush San Francisco Ballet production, with Yuan Yuan Tan as Desdemona and Parrish Maynard as the treacherous Iago.
Great Performances: Sweeney Todd In Concert
Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street tells a twisted tale of love and revenge. Returning to London after a long stint in prison, Sweeney Todd is befriended by Mrs. Lovett, a pie shop owner who is "creative" in finding ingredients for her culinary delights. Together, the duo go on a rampage of evil deeds in the name of profit and revenge. This program is a filmed concert performed in July 2001 by the San Francisco Symphony, featuring Geoge Hearn and Patti Lupone.

This program takes a personal look at the lives of four people who are mentally ill and have been homeless. It also examines the devastating impact their conditions have had on their families.
