Cartoonist Ray Billingsley describes his comic strip Curtis, how he creates it, and why creating a strip about an African American boy is important to him. Janine Lean, a student at Bergenfield High School, talks about her role as editor-in-chief of The Bear Facts, her school newspaper, and shows what is involved in producing a typical issue. "Up, Up & Oops!" - Emily Elizabeth, Nina and Shun decide to make their own kites for a special kite flying day at the park. But when neither girls' kites will fly it looks like they won't be able to participate in kite flying day. In the end, Shun shares his special Japanese kite making materials with his friends and this act of sharing saves the day for all involved.

Hacker has discovered an army of awesome creatures he can use to rule cyberspace, but they are carved in stone on the walls of the Pyramid of Jimaya. To bring the animals to life, he must steal the Sphere of Being, a magical orb closely guarded by three ghosts (Hacker's worst nightmare). How can he distract them so he can steal the Sphere? Opportunity knocks when he tricks Jules, recently hired as tour guide, into pushing the wrong button and falling, along with the kids and Creech, into an underground arena from which there is no escape! Confronted by the Jam Master, the guardian of the pyramid, and the Pyramid's three ghosts, the kids are told they can go free if they can overcome the ghosts in a game of Jimaya Jam. The game is like basketball except for a few small quirks: When Matt tries to dribble and move the ball across the court, it breaks! And he can't move from where he stands on the court once he receives it. Coach Jackie struggles with a game plan until the kids realize that diagramming her plays makes it a whole lot easier to follow them. Down to their last ball, stopping Hacker rests on their ability to diagram and execute the right play.

Zeeter takes over the weather forecasting job from Bula, and learns all about the components of weather. Also: After hearing Multo tell a story about a Golden Cloud, Wizzy and Wigg set out to find it to give to Multo as a surprise present. Dark Truder overhears them and, unaware it's just a story, plots to find the Golden Cloud himself so he will be rich. Our heroes hike up Mount Zula, meeting many types of clouds along the way. When they reach the top, they actually see a golden cloud that Truder attempts to grab, but it turns out to be the Zula Space Patrol ship hidden in a cloud of astro-smoke. Dark Truder is foiled by his own greed, but Wizzy and Wigg discover that sometimes the key to happiness is making others happy.

Maya promises to let nothing happen to this special calavera. Her presentation goes well, but Maya loses the calavera! After Theo, Maggie, Chrissy and Andy each share their fantastical ideas about how the lost calavera will make Abuela feel, Maya herself feels horrible. She promised her abuela that she wouldn't let anything happen to it! Then, as luck would have it, Maya discovers that she accidentally switched backpacks with another student, and the calavera is recovered. An excited Maya can't contain herself, and while jumping up and down, breaks the calavera! Maya is determined not to let her abuela down, and goes to great lengths to have the calavera re-made.
