    • Mon 5/06: very brief KQED DT9 OTA outage

      (DT9.1, 9.2, 9.3) This morning we had a very brief outage of our over the air (OTA) coverage for KQED 9.1/9.2/9.3, which lasted apx 4 minutes.     • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA signal back on air

      (DT54.1 through DT54.5) The Over the Air (OTA) signal from our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak was restored at apx 6:35pm this evening. Most tuners should automatically find the signal, however some OTA viewers may need to do a rescan to restore reception.

    • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA planned overnight outage extended

      Unexpected technical problems have been discovered at the KQEH transmitter site during planned maintenance overnight.  KQED crews have identified the problem and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Please check back to this blog for status updates. Service to Comcast and other providers are uninterrupted.

This week's challenge is to find vintage advertising, and in Coca-Cola country, there's plenty to find. Some notable picks include a rare Red Rock Cola piece,a Sterling Card case and an antique hobbyhorse. Their finds are auctioned at Cowan's Auction in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Antiquing In Philadelphia, Pa (Episode #102H)

KQED Life: Fri, Aug 31, 2012 -- 8:00 PM

Miller, John, Bob and Kevin are in the City of Brotherly Love, working in close quarters at the 60-vendor Phila Flea Market. The challenge is to find costume jewelry - within their fixed budgets - with an eye to selling their finds for profit at auction. One picker will make a fatal mistake. Notable picks include a set by French jeweler Marcel Boucher and items such as a Playboy ice bucket and a Japanese mixed metal vase. It becomes clear whose strategy is working best when the items are auctioned at A.N. Abell Auction Company in Los Angeles.

In the premiere, four pickers - Miller, John,Bob and Kevin - head to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, home to Renningers Adamstown, a large indoor/outdoor flea market, where they will be challenged to find mid-century modern items amid the Pennsylvania Dutch antiques. The pickers scour the market for key finds, which include an Eames chair, Moss floor lamp and a Tiffany jelly jar. The winning picker is determined at A.N. Abell Auction Company in Los Angeles, California, where their chosen items go under the hammer.
