This comprehensive unit on climate change explores fundamental science concepts through the lens of climate science and the use of digital media resources. Aligned to State and National Science Standards for grades 4–8, "Clue into Climate" is organized into four content strands and offers educators the option to teach individual lessons or an entire strand.
Please note, the PDF lesson plans linked to from this page are temporarily unavailable as of 4-18-13. We hope to restore them soon, thank you for your patience in the meantime.
Getting Started: A Guide to Using the Curriculum (PDF)
Strand 1: Increased Greenhouse Gases Contribute to Climate Change
An increase in human-produced greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, contributes to climate change.

Strand 2: Climate Change Affects Ecosystems and the Distribution of Organisms
Animals and plants must move or adapt to the change in climate or they will go extinct.

Strand 3: Climate Change Affects the Water Cycle
Climate change affects the water cycle by changing precipitation patterns and causing glaciers to melt at an increased rate. These changes lead to flooding, drought and sea level rise.

Strand 4: Climate Change Can Be Mitigated by Using Renewable Energy Sources
Climate change can be mitigated by using renewable energy sources (solar, biofuels, geothermal, electric/hybrid cars) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
