TV Weekly Schedule: KQED 9HD
New! We have redesigned the TV Weekly Schedules. Learn about the New Features.
1) Channel Tabs: You now have the ability to easily access all channel schedules by clicking on the tabs at the top of the schedule.
2) Complete Day Schedule: The schedule now covers full days. Previously it just displayed primetime. Click on specific dates to link to the daily schedule for that day.
3) Collapsible Dayparts: The schedule now has collapsible dayparts for customization and easy viewing. Click on the white daypart text with the plus sign icon to expand the schedule for that time frame. Click on the yellow daypart text with the minus sign icon to collapse that daypart schedule. The default keeps Overnight collapsed to allow Morning to be on top of page. We will be adding a feature soon that will retain your preferences as you tab through the channels and weeks for the current session.
4) Customizable Printer Version: The improved Printer version allows you to customize how you want your schedule to print. You can print out channels individually now and can decide what dayparts you want to be printed by collapsing and expanding the desired dayparts. So, if you just want to print out the evening schedule you can collapse the dayparts to only expose evening and it will print just the evening schedule. The Printer version also specifies the date and time it was printed and provides the link for most updated info.
5) Program Descriptions on Same Page: Program descriptions are now accessible as overlays on the same page. When you click on a program/episode title the description will popup on the same page. There will be a link in the description to access the main program page with other airing times.
6) Email Reminders on Same Page: Email reminders are now part of the program description overlay. If an email reminder is not available due to time frame (must be 25 hours before airing) the reminder does not show up.
We are hoping these changes enhance your experience accessing and watching KQED/KTEH TV programs.

4:30 am Musician and enigmatic poet Leonard Cohen wowed a crown of 600,000 people at the infamous 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, widely considered to be the last great concert of its time. After 5 days and nights of chaos, fires, rioting and music, Cohen took the stage at 4am and mesmerized fans with 17 of his greatest songs. In this program, Kris Kristofferson, Judy Collins, Joan Baez and his then production manager Bob Johnston take a look back at the Isle of Wight and how Leonard Cohen single handedly took over the festival with his music.

5:00 am If you are 50 years old today, you'll probably live into your mid-80s. If you live into your mid-80s, there's a more than even probability that your brain will decline in function before you die. At age 85, there's almost an even-money chance that you'll be identified as senile which will dramatically impair your ability to live alone, your ability to make your own decisions and live a full and interesting life until the day you die.

3:00 am Marilyn Monroe: Still Life(#1904E) duration 56:08 CC STEREO TVPG-SThere are the movie roles, but it is the still images - the iconic face, expressions and poses - that make up our collective memory of Marilyn. She was, arguably, the most photographed person ever. Her relationship with the camera produced an enduring body of work that still dazzles and moves us, evoking both desire and pathos. These photographs are an ageless testament to her grace, guts and sexiness - her humor and vulnerability. She understood their power, and she exploited it. She created, and curated, her own image - lips puckered to the lens, inviting us to kiss her back. She would be 80 now. She died more than 40 years ago. We look back through Norman Mailer, Gloria Steinem and Hugh Heffner, as Marilyn persists in her image.

4:00 am This program explores what it means to be a girl in America today. On the surface, it seems clear. The new American girl is becoming more and more powerful -- and she knows it. She competes on the athletic field and she regularly outperforms the boys to her left and right in the classroom. But this picture of empowerment is deceiving. As a society we are starting to realize that in middle and high school, girls' self-confidence takes a nose-dive. Far too often, the once strong, self-assured prepubescent girl becomes docile and fearful. These girls begin, in the now-famous words of psychologist Carol Gilligan, "to lose their voices." And with this loss of self comes a drop in academic performance as well. This program brings together the latest scientific research on the psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual development of girls, to help parents, educators and all concerned better understand them. The program is based in part on author Rachel Simmons' book "Odd Girl Out."

5:00 am This program takes an unflinching look into the face of modern-day puberty through the eyes of four urban girls of color living in California's Bay Area. The film, shot over four years, enters the worlds of Ariana, Isha, Rosie and Esme as they negotiate the precious, precarious moments between girlhood and young womanhood. Cameras travel with the girls - an African-American, a Mexican-American, a mixed-race Latina and an immigrant from India - from their elementary school, where double-Dutch and hand-games rule, to the crowded and noisy halls of middle school, where they deal with the realities of a compromised sex-ed curriculum, Internet chat rooms and malicious gossip. Using a mix of intimate interviews, cinema verite and stop-motion animation, this film chronicles the girls' coming of age: their blossoming desires and growing sense of responsibility, their hopes for the future, their difficulties learning to love themselves and their escalating tugs-of-war with their parents.

3:00 am This glamorous and hugely popular actress raised herself from brutal poverty to Academy Award-winning stardom through guts, determination and hard work. During her 50-year career, she made more than 80 films. But her obsessive perfectionism led to a later caricature of coat-hanger-wielding harridan that even the adoration of her fans could not counter. Still, she has endured as one of the most popular icons of the movies, an early role model to young women who were drawn to her image as a stylish magnetic power and an actress of unquestioned independence. Clips are included from the following Joan Crawford films: Sally, Irene and Mary (1925), Our Dancing Daughters (1928), Grand Hotel (1932), Dancing Lady (1933), The Gorgeous Hussy (1936), The Women (1939), A Woman's Face (1941), Mildred Pierce (1945) , Humoresque (1946), Possessed (1947), Sudden Fear (1952), Johnny Guitar (1954), Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) and Strait Jacket (1964).
