In the end, Maya and Miguel have failed to bring it all together and go back to the original potholder. Rosa is delighted with the gift. After all, it's the thought that counts. At this, Paco appears with a gift of his own: a facial mask he made with the ingredients he took from Maya and Miguel!

    On the Magistrate and Tai-Tai's anniversary, Tai-Tai is furious at the lack of spectacular gifts. The only gift she considers decent is a swan from the villagers. The grandparents love the gift nonetheless. The kittens and Tai-Tai both begin to see things from a different point of view and realize that it really is the thought that counts.

But when they realize that they don't play as well without her, Maya and Miguel beg her to come back and help them before a big game. Rosa declines. During the game, Maya and Miguel's team is losing badly. so the new coach turns to Rosa for a little inspiration. Rosa gives the team a pep talk and some coaching from the sidelines. and the gang wins! In the end, Maya and Miguel learn to be proud of their mom. and to occasionally let her embarrass them.
