    • Mon 5/06: very brief KQED DT9 OTA outage

      (DT9.1, 9.2, 9.3) This morning we had a very brief outage of our over the air (OTA) coverage for KQED 9.1/9.2/9.3, which lasted apx 4 minutes. Most tuners will have found the channel again as soon as service was restored, but some may need to be rescanned for channel 9. This outage did not affect [...]

    • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA signal back on air

      (DT54.1 through DT54.5) The Over the Air (OTA) signal from our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak was restored at apx 6:35pm this evening. Most tuners should automatically find the signal, however some OTA viewers may need to do a rescan to restore reception.

    • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA planned overnight outage extended

      Unexpected technical problems have been discovered at the KQEH transmitter site during planned maintenance overnight.  KQED crews have identified the problem and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Please check back to this blog for status updates. Service to Comcast and other providers are uninterrupted.

    Thomas & Friends [#307] Imagination It is winter on the Island of Sodor and Henry is disappointed not to be chosen to pull some heavy loads for Farmer McColl. Gordon gets the job and boasts that he is the strongest engine. The other engines tell Gordon that he'll soon see just how strong Big Strong Henry is, a promise that has Henry worried. Henry's friends soon find a way for Henry to prove his strength to Gordon - by pulling Farmer McColl's loads so Gordon can see. This makes Gordon cross and Henry decides he quite likes being Big Strong Henry. Henry takes his heaviest load yet, twenty trucks of hay bales, up a hill - but they're too heavy! The trucks derail at the bottom of the hill, while Gordon takes his last heavy load, some cows. Henry is very sorry for causing trouble, but spots that Gordon has puffed away leaving one of his trucks is open - letting all the cows escape! Clever Henry uses his hay to lead the cows all the way to Farmer McColl's proving that you don't need to be strong to be useful! Thomas is to give train rides at a children's fancy dress party. He daydreams about what costume to wear. A trip to the washdown gives him the idea to go as a big bubble bath, but the bubbles get into his eyes and he crashes into Toby, who is carrying taffy for the taffy apples. Toby is damaged so Thomas offers to take the taffy for Toby. On his way to the party Thomas again daydreams about what costume to wear. He doesn't see some points have changed and races into a siding. He hits the buffers and taffy goes all over him. Thomas is running late so takes a shortcut down an old overgrown line. Branches and leaves stick to him. Thomas arrives at the party with the taffy just in time. He's sorry to be in such a mess. But the children say that he looks like a big leafy bush - he has come in fancy dress after all. Peep peep! duration 28:46   STEREO TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)

    Sesame Street [#4275H] Super Maria Gordon is busy trying to fix lots of things at 123 Sesame Street. Susan tells him that he should think about getting a superintendent - someone who takes care of buildings and fixes things that are broken. Gordon insists that he doesn't need any help. Chris comes by and asks if the doorknob is fixed yet, and tells Gordon that the window is broken, too. Chris also suggests getting a super, but again, Gordon says he doesn't need any help. The Count comes to count all of the things that are broken, and three things become five, as the gate and the drainpipe break. The Count suggests that Gordon gets a super, and Gordon gets even more frustrated. Just then, Super Grover flies in to save the day, and in the process, breaks a light. And then the door breaks. Maria and Big Bird hear the crash and hurry in to see if Gordon is okay, as the Count now counts seven broken things. Maria asks if he needs help, and Gordon finally agrees that he was wrong - he does need help fixing all of the broken things. Maria gets her toolbox, and together they sing about getting it all done as they make their way through fixing everything that is broken. Gordon thanks Maria for all of her help and asks if she would like to be the super. Maria agrees, and everyone is happy. duration 58:46   STEREO TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)

When Duck introduces his new friend "S-hark" to the gang, Duck learns a lesson about the /sh/ sound, while everyone else discovers that acceptance is an important part of friendship.

And when the fireflies provide the light the kids need, the shadow puppet show can continue!

They jump into the Thingamajigger and shrink down to meet up with Lewis and Clark, the two snails leading the way! As they travel through the forest of Slippity-Goo, having fun sliding in their own shells, the kids learn about all the different ways snails use their shells.

    * Home With Shiny & Don - Shiny and Don stay at home and we get to see that just because they don't always ride with Buddy and Tiny on the Dinosaur Train doesn't mean that they are not having fun. An adventure into a local caves leads to a marvelous and brilliant discovery.

    Sesame Street [#4257H] Failure to Launch Hubert the Human Cannonball comes to Sesame Street to be launched out of a cannon, across the yard, and into a bucket of blue gelatin. He starts to set up all his stuff in the arbor and takes out a ruler so he can make sure the bucket is exactly five feet from the cannon. Baby Bear helps him measure it, Elmo and Telly help him into the cannon, and?drum roll please?there's a poof and Hubert tumbles out. Baby Bear measures the distance, and, to the dismay of Hubert, he has flown zero feet. They figure out that his cannon is broken and try to come up with another way to launch Hubert five feet to the bucket of gelatin. Telly comes up with the bright idea to try his toy catapult. So they set Hubert up, launch him, and then measure. Once again, Hubert is disappointed - he has only gone two feet. Elmo comes up with a new idea to make Hubert go further and comes back with the Big Bad Wolf, who can make houses fly! He blows and Hubert takes off. This time the distance measures only four feet,. Baby Bear thinks he can engineer something just forceful enough, and designs and builds a launcher for Hubert using a giant rubber band. It works! Later, Caillou and his daycare buddies have a treasure hunt in the forest. With Sarah and a magnifying glass, Caillou pretends to be a jungle explorer, hunting "big game" in the garden. On another day, Caillou and his family go away for a weekend of camping in the woods.     Thomas & Friends [#308] Navigation Rusty has two jobs. One is to take some workers to put up direction signs along the mountain trails and the other is to take Sir Topham Hatt and his family to the mountains for a walk. Rusty is so keen to be on time for Sir Topham Hatt that he rushes the workers. He makes them finish without checking their work. Rusty takes the Hatt family to the start of their walk and arranges to meet them at the tea rooms later. When the Hatt Family don't turn up at the end of their walk, Rusty is worried. He searches the mountains and when he finds campers at the quarry, fishermen at the coalmine and skiers at the castle, he realizes that the signposts must be wrong! Rusty quickly deduces where the Hatts must be and races off to find them at Hill Farm! They've had a wonderful day, but Rusty has one more job to do. He fetches the workmen to fix the signs. And this time, he doesn't rush them! A shooting star is due to light up the night sky on the Island of Sodor. All the engines are making wishes. When the power on the island fails, Thomas is sent to the power station with some engineers. Thomas puffs across the island but, desperate to see the shooting star, avoids taking any route that will obstruct his view of the night sky. This made his trip longer and longer. Percy gets worried for Thomas and wishes that Thomas returns safely. Thomas, however, has taken such a long route that he's lost! He wishes he could see so he could take the fastest route. Suddenly the shooting star appears and lights up the sky! The light shows Thomas the way and soon the power is fixed!
