    Dinosaur Train [#303] Solar Train/Birdwatching Our Pteranodon family accompanies Mr. Conductor to the Troodon Town Roundhouse to meet up with Thurston Troodon, the Rocket Train's conductor. They all soon learn that Tricia Troodon, a young hotshot conductor, actually invited everyone there to see her new train - the Solar Train! The kids learn that it's powered by the sun! To test the train's performance, the three Conductors, along with the help of Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don, race the Dinosaur Train, Thurston's Rocket Train and Tricia's new Solar Train to the Triassic! Buddy and Tiny give Elliot Enantiornithine, a first timer on the Dinosaur Train, a tour of the Train. When they go through Laura Giganotosaurus' car, she explains to them that today is her bird watching/drawing day, but she hasn't found a single bird to watch. But, there's Elliot. He hams it up for Laura, who watches and draws him. This is so fun that Buddy and Tiny bring Laura to meet another bird friend-- Arlene Archeopteryx. Then Arlene and Elliot introduce the kids and Laura to a new bird named Peng Protopteryx!     Ready Jet Go! [#127H] Space Junk/Scientific Sean "Space Junk" - After learning about space junk, the kids are determined to help do their part to clean up their "space neighborhood." They meet up with Uncle Zucchini, a long-time galaxy garbage man! Using Bortronian technology, they start a cleanup. During the course of the day, our kids learn that recycling is necessary both on Earth and in space! Curriculum: The outer space region around Earth swarms with millions of pieces of man-made space junk that create potential hazards. Objects as small as 4 inches can be seen by radar or optical telescopes on Earth. Cleaning the debris is a challenge. Trips to larger objects could remove them from orbit, but that's expensive. Another proposal is using lasers to provide a path-changing push that wouldn't damage the object. "Scientific Sean" - Jet is fascinated by Earth paper airplanes when he watches Sean casually fold one. Jet suggests that the kids challenge each other to build the plane that will fly the farthest, and still carry the payload of a message. Sean wants to use the Scientific Method to solve the distance/size issues. CURRICULUM: The Scientific Method is a simple set of rules that scientists use the world over, to make sure that they are doing their experiments correctly and in a way that they can repeat.     Thomas & Friends [#1103] Take It Easy No More Mr. Nice Engine - Hiro is one of the strongest engines on Sodor. He is also very polite and gentle, even when he's pulling the naughty Troublesome Trucks. Diesel tells Hiro that the only way to get the trucks to behave is to give them a bang and a bump, but Hiro is not convinced. So Diesel sneaks up behind Hiro and encourages the Troublesome Trucks to misbehave even more, forcing Hiro to lose his temper and cause an accident. Thomas blows the whistle on Diesel, who soon finds himself learning from Hiro how to deal with Troublesome Trucks in a more polite and gentle manner. Educational Objectives: demonstrating responsibility, applying one's best efforts, being kind and polite, understanding there are consequences to one's actions. Thomas's Shortcut - Thomas and Bertie love racing, but Thomas gets annoyed when Bertie starts winning all the time. When Thomas discovers Bertie's been re-routed and takes a shortcut, he decides to try to take a shortcut too, despite Annie and Clarabel's objections. But when Thomas comes off the rails, he realizes the error of his ways. When they do finally ripen, Caillou realizes good (and delicious!) things are worth waiting for. Educational Objective: Realizing good things are worth waiting for. Wait to Skate: Daddy is building an ice rink in the backyard, only Caillou can't wait to skate. When his impatience almost ruins the rink, Caillou realizes that things take time...and good things are worth waiting for. Educational Objective: The importance of having patience. Caillou's Hiccups: A spaghetti dinner (and a lot of giggling) result in Caillou getting the hiccups. Daddy thinks he knows how to cure them, and together, they embark on a series of hiccup-curing trials. But none of them see to work! Mommy insists the hiccups will go away on their own - as long as Caillou doesn't make a big deal of them... and she's right!     Bob the Builder [#916] A Race Against Time Stranded: Bob and the team are repairing the Fixham Lighthouse after it was damaged in a storm. Lofty helps remove and replace the lamp and Scoops digs up the old power cable from the lighthouse to the shore. The lamp lights just before another storm arrives and, in Lofty's excitement, he accidentally yanks out the new cable and cuts the power. To finish the job, the Machines need the help of Wendy and Bob, who are stranded in the lighthouse. The Machines quickly assist Curtis in repairing his boat and they rescue Bob and Wendy before the storm becomes too rough. The cable is reattached and power to the lighthouse is restored. Learning Goals: To learn about storms and storm safety To explore the purpose of lighthouses. To understand how and when to ask for help. End of the Line; The train is almost ready to take to the tracks on Spring City's new monorail system! Bob and the team are completing one last station before the train's first journey. With Bob test-driving the route, Leo is left to direct the Machines and juggle three jobs at once. Disaster ensues on the site when the roof crashes into the track and bends it out of shape just as Bob is on his way to the station by train. Leo uses the signal box phone to call Bob, urging him to brake. Bob safely stops the train and the team work together to fix the track and finish the job in time for the train's first official journey. Learning Goals: To introduce the concept that technology can have good and bad consequences. To explore the use of magnets for motion. Duck learns that everyone makes mistakes and admitting them sooner rather than later can make a big difference. Catch that C! - While Pig and Ant are making cookies, their bag of letter C's gets away from them, sending the WordFriends on a wild goose chase all over WordWorld to catch that C!     • Fremont Peak Tower Maintenance

      *UPDATE: The tower crew will work the Fremont peak tower as of 11am, Thursday, Nov 30th. We will need to lower power on KQET, Channel 25, to 25% at 10:30am through 4-5pm. Thank you for your patience!

    • Scheduled Maintenance 8/21-8/25

      Next week, Sutro Tower will be switching most stations to their auxiliary antennas. KQED TV will be at half power on the lower auxiliary antenna, this will affect some of our Over The Air viewers. Maintenance is scheduled on August 21-25 from 9am through 4pm daily.     • 2/22/17: Fremont Peak tower transmissions, including KQET DT25

      (DT25.1 through 25.3) Recent storms have taken out dozens of trees on Fremont Peak, which in turn have taken down power lines leading to the transmission tower located on the peak.
