    Dinosaur Train [#216H] Dinos A to Z, Part 3, Classification/Dinos A to Z, Part 4, A To Z Picnic The Pteranodon family rides the Dinosaur Train - now with extra cars attached -- as it continues picking up more dinosaurs that are in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song. The Pteranodon family reunites with some dinosaurs they've met before, and are introduced to species they've never met! The Pteranodon kids also learn about classification, and Don leads the way organizing the dinosaurs on the Train by their species, features, and size. The Pteranodon family is on the Dinosaur Train, now very crowded with all 26 dinosaurs mentioned in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song. The Train has added more extra cars than it ever has, and there's even an additional engine to help pull the Train to Troodon Town. After learning about the causes of moonquakes, the kids attempt to build a Moonquake-proof structure. / Sean and Sydney are planning to take Jet to the DSA Open House the upcoming weekend. The Earth kids are nervous that he will get in front of a crowd of strangers and forget to keep the secret that he's an alien from Bortron 7. After a hilarious outburst from Jet, the kids are motivated to try to "train" him to behave less like an alien from outer space, and more like a "regular Earthie kid." But Annie and Clarabel end up getting left behind again, and learn that two wrongs don't make a right! Learning Goals: honesty, self-control, responsibility Saving Time Samson boasts to the other trains that he has been given a very special job taking stones from the quarry to the docks. But when he learns that Thomas has been assigned the same task, Samson tries to find another way to show everyone that he's very important. He decides to take more trucks than he should, insisting that it will save time. But with so many heavy trucks, Samson can't get over Gordon's Hill! It takes him even longer to deliver the stones, and when he asks Thomas to help him, he ends up making Thomas late too. When Percy runs into a snowdrift, Harold volunteers to take the letters for him. Percy is unhappy that he had to be helped. But when Harold doesn't come back from the delivery, it's Percy who searches for Harold and helps in return. Together they experience the spirit of Christmas! Learning Goals: Kindness, forgiveness, helping others, compassion, self-awareness, friendship Love Me Tender Snow comes early to the Island of Sodor - and it's heavier than usual! Donald and Douglas are attached together with a van between their tenders and snow plows on their fronts. As they plow the snow, Donald and Douglas argue over which lines they should clear first. Frustrated, Donald suddenly pulls away, snapping a damaged coupling and moving away with Douglas's tender! Douglas is left behind in the snow - without coal or water! Once Donald realizes that Douglas is lost, he becomes determined to find his brother. Donald finds Douglas in the snow and they make up, knowing that no matter how often they argue, they will always look out for one another. He and Grandma get everything ready, and Grandpa is very surprised and very happy. Caillou really likes to play with Leo's pet hamster and would love to have one of his own. He doesn't realize how much hard work having a hamster can be until he offers to look after Leo's pet while Leo and his parents are out of town. He soon realizes it's not all fun and games - especially with Gilbert around! Mom is upset when the mailman only brings bills, bills and more bills. Caillou and Dad decide to make a nice letter for her and they give it to the mailman to deliver. Mom is thrilled to get such a nice letter from Caillou. On another day, Caillou is really looking forward to a special day with Dad, but Dad gets a bad cold and has to stay home. Bob and the team are building a giant outdoor game-testing area for the occasion. Leo and Scoop are assembling the giant keyboard and the rest of the team is building the child-size dollhouse and the Snakes and Ladders board. Confident in his musical knowledge, Leo ignores the instructions and treats the keyboard as a jigsaw puzzle. The attempt is unsuccessful and Leo and Scoop must start over. Following the instructions, Leo and Scoop complete the project in time for Sylvain de Souza to dance out some fabulous tunes across the keyboard. Learning Goals: To recognize various ways to sort materials by size, color and shape and number. To learn about conflict resolution. To recognize the value in learning from mistakes. Tattie's Mash-Up: Bob and the team are building a Soft Play Cafe for Chef Tattie in an old warehouse by the docks. Leo shows off his 'mash-up' app and Chef decides that Leo should DJ for the Cafe's opening party tomorrow. Uncertain of his DJ abilities, Leo becomes distracted from the job and walks through spilled paints, trailing different colored footprints across the floor. Delighted by Leo's new 'design,' indecisive Chef Tattie decides to paint the disco room four different colors. Leo learns the dangers of multitasking and, in lieu of his DJing, Chef, Wendy, and Curtis sing at the opening party. Learning Goals: To explore creative problem solving. While each WordFriend builds himself several words to thwart his competitor along the way, Pig and Frog both finally come to realize that the only way they'll succeed is to work together. A Star is Born: Duck gets a case of stage fright while singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" for all his WordFriends. Instead of singing the word "star," Duck freezes and blurts out the first thing he sees.     Sesame Street [#4635H] Meet Julia Alan, Abby, Elmo and their friend Julia are painting as Big Bird walks by. Big Bird mentions how great everyone's paintings are and tries to give Julia a high-five but she happily goes off to play. Big Bird doesn't think Julia likes him but Alan explains that Julia has autism and for her it means that she may not answer him right away, speak a lot and or do what he might expect like give him a high-five; she does things just a little differently. Julia does love playing with her friends so Big Bird suggests that they play tag. Elmo tags Julia and she boings like a rubber ball after them. Big Bird says he's never played tag like this before. Alan tells Big Bird that Julia does things differently, things that Big Bird might even want to try, like boing tag. Big Bird thinks it does look like fun and joins in. Just then fire truck sirens go off and Julia stops boinging and covers her ears. Big Bird doesn't realize that the sirens are bothering Julia and he tags her. This upsets Julia some more so Alan suggests that they take a break and brings her to a quieter place. To help her calm down, Alan gives Julia her stuffed animal and together they take deep breaths. Julia feels better and is ready to play again. While waiting for Julia to return, Big Bird tells Abby and Elmo that Julia's not like any friend he's ever had before. Abby and Elmo help Big Bird realize that none of them are exactly the same; all of Big Birds friends are different and each one is unique.     Dinosaur Train [#206H] That's Not A Dinosaur/Tiny's Garden * The kids visit the Big Pond to attend the Biome Block Party. While attempting to win the leaf-necklace contest, Keenan Chirostemotes claims the Pteranodon sibs can't compete for the prize for "dinosaur" with the most leaves because they are not dinosaurs. This launches the kids into a song called "That's Not a Dinosaur", as all the non-dinosaurs sing their piece. In the end, the game rules are changed to include all creatures, even non-dinosaurs, in all the contests!
    * The Nature Trackers go on a visit to the Big Pond, where Tiny hopes to see her favorite flowers. The Conductor tells her that if the kids gather seeds at the pond, they can bring them home and plant a garden full of those same flowers at the family nest! The kids all get into it, gathering seeds and bringing them home, where they plant a garden,and meet its new inhabitants, including Sammy, a friendly slug, who explains that slugs, spiders, and butterflies all help to make a garden complete.

    Dinosaur Train [#210] Hurricane at Pteranodon Terrace/Rafting The Cretaceous The long-awaited rains finally return to Pteranodon Terrace, but grow into a huge rainstorm that grows even bigger - into a hurricane! Dad hasn't seen it blow like this since he was a kid. They seek shelter, and Don discovers an entrance to a cave below their nest, where not only the Pteranodons, but also their other neighbors, the Lambeorsaurus family and Cindy Cimolestes, all take shelter for the night. In the morning, the storm has passed, but everyone must pitch in to rebuild their various nests. The family is cleaning up the mess left over from the hurricane, and discover that a raft of logs has washed up two refugees from across the Western Interior Sea - a turtle named Aidan Adocus, and a small mammal named Tommy Ptilodus. Our family learns of their adventure, crossing the sea in the storm, and washing up at Pteranodon Terrace. Sean compares her "Mindyspere" to the helisophere-the boundaries of the Sun's influence. The kids get Celery to fly them out past the heliosphere into true interstellar space. Back on Earth, they make their own Voyager 1 (out of a wagon) and take Mindy to the outermost edges of the Mindysphere! / Sydney knows a lot about Boxwood Terrace's early history, and she tells Jet stories about a local pioneer who went by the nickname "Lone Star." He got that name because he was an early astronomer who liked the hills of Boxwood Terrace for their excellent views of the night sky, and built the first Observatory on the hill that now sits at the center of the Deep Space Array. Big Bird doesn't think Julia likes him but Alan explains that Julia has autism and for her it means that she may not answer him right away, speak a lot and or do what he might expect like give him a high-five; she does things just a little differently. Julia does love playing with her friends so Big Bird suggests that they play tag. Elmo tags Julia and she boings like a rubber ball after them. Big Bird says he's never played tag like this before. Alan tells Big Bird that Julia does things differently, things that Big Bird might even want to try, like boing tag. Big Bird thinks it does look like fun and joins in. Just then fire truck sirens go off and Julia stops boinging and covers her ears. Big Bird doesn't realize that the sirens are bothering Julia and he tags her. This upsets Julia some more so Alan suggests that they take a break and brings her to a quieter place. To help her calm down, Alan gives Julia her stuffed animal and together they take deep breaths. Julia feels better and is ready to play again. While waiting for Julia to return, Big Bird tells Abby and Elmo that Julia's not like any friend he's ever had before. Abby and Elmo help Big Bird realize that none of them are exactly the same; all of Big Birds friends are different and each one is unique.     Dinosaur Train [#206H] That's Not A Dinosaur/Tiny's Garden * The kids visit the Big Pond to attend the Biome Block Party. While attempting to win the leaf-necklace contest, Keenan Chirostemotes claims the Pteranodon sibs can't compete for the prize for "dinosaur" with the most leaves because they are not dinosaurs. This launches the kids into a song called "That's Not a Dinosaur", as all the non-dinosaurs sing their piece. In the end, the game rules are changed to include all creatures, even non-dinosaurs, in all the contests!
    * The Nature Trackers go on a visit to the Big Pond, where Tiny hopes to see her favorite flowers. The Conductor tells her that if the kids gather seeds at the pond, they can bring them home and plant a garden full of those same flowers at the family nest! The kids all get into it, gathering seeds and bringing them home, where they plant a garden,and meet its new inhabitants, including Sammy, a friendly slug, who explains that slugs, spiders, and butterflies all help to make a garden complete.

    Dinosaur Train [#210] Hurricane at Pteranodon Terrace/Rafting The Cretaceous The long-awaited rains finally return to Pteranodon Terrace, but grow into a huge rainstorm that grows even bigger - into a hurricane! Dad hasn't seen it blow like this since he was a kid. They seek shelter, and Don discovers an entrance to a cave below their nest, where not only the Pteranodons, but also their other neighbors, the Lambeorsaurus family and Cindy Cimolestes, all take shelter for the night. In the morning, the storm has passed, but everyone must pitch in to rebuild their various nests. The family is cleaning up the mess left over from the hurricane, and discover that a raft of logs has washed up two refugees from across the Western Interior Sea - a turtle named Aidan Adocus, and a small mammal named Tommy Ptilodus. Our family learns of their adventure, crossing the sea in the storm, and washing up at Pteranodon Terrace.       *UPDATE: The tower crew will work the Fremont peak tower as of 11am, Thursday, Nov 30th. We will need to lower power on KQET, Channel 25, to 25% at 10:30am through 4-5pm. Thank you for your patience!

    • Scheduled Maintenance 8/21-8/25

      Next week, Sutro Tower will be switching most stations to their auxiliary antennas. KQED TV will be at half power on the lower auxiliary antenna, this will affect some of our Over The Air viewers. Maintenance is scheduled on August 21-25 from 9am through 4pm daily.
