About Youth Sounds

Youth Sounds gives young people positive support and space to articulate how they see themselves and the world around them through video and sounds. Video enables the voice of youth to reach across audiences, for youth to become pro-active agents for change and not merely respondents. In their stories are the persistent and emerging issues that matter to them -- issues for which researchers, politicians and adults are constantly mining.

Corner Store Productions is an apprenticeship program within Youth Sounds that exposes youth to professional levels of production and the responsibilities of work. The Store's mission is to assist in sustaining youth-serving organizations in Oakland and the Bay Area through video, while bringing the unique perspective of young people to our productions. Youth are encouraged in all aspects of production, as well as editing, where appropriate.

Youth Sounds can be found online at youthsounds.org. To watch the short videos produced by Youth Sounds, visit the American Family project home.

Native American Health Center can be found online at nativehealth.org. To watch the short videos produced by NAHC, visit the American Family project home.
