Farmers' Markets: Berkeley Slideshow
The Berkeley Farmers' Markets are a program of the Ecology Center. The Berkeley Markets support small-scale farmers who practice sustainable agriculture. As a result, much of the produce is registered or certified organic. None of the produce available has been grown from genetically modified seeds or exposed to Methyl Bromide, an environmentally harmful pesticide.
In addition to seasonal produce, products like fresh bread and pastries, oils and vinegars, preserves, honey, sauerkraut, goat cheese and yogurt, fresh fish, coffee and tea as well as a variety of prepared foods are available. You can also get a massage, have your bicycle fixed and be entertained by a variety of musicians and performers. Special events are scheduled throughout the year.
