Bill Sorro
Manilatown Heritage Foundation
San Francisco, CA

Bill Sorro
Bill Sorro is a former tenant of the International Hotel and founding member of the International Hotel Tenants Association (IHTA). He was part of the IHTA leadership that for over nine years struggled to save from the impending evictions of the elderly tenants and to preserve San Francisco's historic Manilatown community. Currently Mr. Sorro is a Board member of the Veterans Equity Center and the Manilatown Heritage Foundation, an organization that sprung out of the fight to save the International Hotel.
Founded in 1994, the Manilatown Heritage Foundation joins the leadership of the International Hotel Citizens Advisory Committee, the Kearny Street Housing Corporation, and in partnership with the Chinatown Community Development Center, the Manilatown Heritage Foundation has become an integral part of rebuilding of the new International Hotel. The Foundation is in the forefront of the preservation of the Manilatown and the restoration of the I-Hotel.

For over thirty five years he has dedicated his life as an activist in the cause of social and economic justice.
