Clinical Director, Family & Child Guidance Clinic Native American Health Center
Nelson Jim, Dineh (Navajo), is the clinical director for the Family & Child Guidance Clinic at the Native American Health Center in San Francisco. In his tenure there, he developed the only Native-American culturally-specific mental health program in San Francisco. He has also implemented a holistic mental health program for American Indians and Alaska Natives living with HIV or AIDS that integrates various Native-American traditional approaches. Mr. Jim has also influenced policy-making on a national level by collaborating with a number of federal agencies as an advocate for mental health and substance abuse programs for Indian people.
