volunteering
KQED relies on dedicated people to undertake a variety of duties. Your support ultimately allows us to broadcast quality television and radio programs here in Northern California. Becoming a KQED volunteer is a great way to show your support for public broadcasting and all the quality programming it offers. You can really make a difference.

Pledge Drives (Individuals)
Pledge drives are KQED's most important fundraising effort. TV Pledge volunteers help us by answering phones, tallying the numbers of pledges received or supervising. if you would like to volunteer for future pledge drives. Please fill out a KQED Volunteer Information Formif you'd like to be contacted for future pledge drives or call (415) 553-2153 for more information.

Pledge Drives (Groups)
Companies and organizations are encouraged to come in as a pledge group in exchange for on-air credit. Some of the benefits of participating include verbal acknowledgements, camera pans of the volunteers, table signs and an on-air graphic slide. Please telephone (415) 553-2153 if you would like to volunteer for future pledge drives. Please fill out a Group Volunteer Information Form if you'd like to be contacted for future pledge drives.

Daytime Volunteer Program
Our daytime volunteer program provides an opportunity for volunteers to see how KQED operates by working in various departments within the station during office hours. Many of the projects are clerical. Daytime volunteers are usually scheduled as needed on an on-call basis. Please note that as a union house, we are unable to schedule volunteers in any areas that would take away from a paid position, including all engineering and production work.

Docent Program
Periodically, a three-to-four week training program takes place on Friday mornings for members interested in providing tours of KQED to school groups and adult organizations. All KQED members are eligible and notification will be made well in advance of upcoming trainings. Please email docent@kqed.org

Special Events
KQED events include Heritage Month receptions, screenings, live productions, and member tours. Duties usually include serving refreshments, greeting and seating guests, cleaning up, etc.
