Producers Circle Member Special Events
The Producer's Circle Event Series is a benefit to major donors giving $10,000 or more annually to KQED. Events are scheduled quarterly, and occasionally more frequently, whenever opportunities arise to introduce Producer's Circle members to the most talented local and national broadcasting personalities.
Past Events

Soraya Sarhaddi Nelson
The Foreign Correspondent for NPR in Cairo, Soraya Sarhaddi Nelson, stopped
by KQED in August 2011 for a Signal Society reception
and Producer's Circle dinner. Soraya's insightful dinner discussion for Producer's
Circle members centered around the "Arab Spring" uprisings in the
Middle East and North Africa and the consequences they might have for United
States foreign policy. She also discussed her approach to and the challenges
of being a woman reporter based in the Middle East. Producer's Circle members
were able to ask her specific questions in this intimate forum.

Julie McCarthy
Members of the Producer's Circle who give more than $25,000 annually had an
opportunity to meet and chat with Julie McCarthy, Foreign Correspondent for
NPR in Pakistan. Julie's May 2011 visit came shortly after the news that Osama
Bin Laden had been killed as a result of an American military action in Abbottabad,
Pakistan. As one of the first reporters on the scene, she offered our most
generous donors a fascinating account of her role in bringing the story to
the air. She also discussed her experiences working in Afghanistan and the
challenges of reporting from a war zone.

Hari Sreenivasan
In February 2011, PBS NewsHour Correspondent and Director of Digital Partnerships
Hari Sreenivasan joined us for an insightful and informative look at newsroom
decisions in the age of digital media. Hari discussed new media's role in newsgathering
and public media's responsibility to curate a trustworthy, reliable news experience
for viewers.
Considering All Things with Michele Norris
In November 2010, Producer's Circle members met and
had lunch with NPR All Things Considered host Michele Norris
at KQED. Michele chatted about NPR, the 2010 election results, and discussed
her new memoir, The Grace of Silence, which details her experiences
growing up black in America and examines civil rights through a personal
lens.
