KQED is undergoing a transformation that will bring an unprecedented
level of educational services to the people of Northern California. In
response to the unfunded federal mandate to convert our television broadcast
technology from analog to digital format, KQED has developed a strategic
plan to meet that challenge and to use the new technology as a launching
pad for delivering extraordinary new services and greatly increased program
production and distribution in partnership with other educational, cultural
and civic organizations.

Gifts of cash; gifts of stock; pledges; planned
gifts in the form of trusts, intended bequests and other means; matching
gifts and gifts-in-kind are accepted by KQED. We are seeking gifts
from individuals, corporations and foundations. Please contact the Campaign
office (campaign@kqed.org) for

Does
my membership gift count toward the Campaign?
No. A gift to the Campaign for the Future is a special, additional gift
to KQED. It does not renew your annual membership. Your annual membership
is invaluable to KQED because it supports the annual operation of KQED
Public Radio, KQED Public Television and KQED Education Network, and we
ask all Campaign donors to also continue their annual support. A gift
to the Campaign is an exceptional, separate and valued contribution to
KQED's future.
Everyone's support is needed to help the Campaign succeed and to help
KQED increase its ability to serve the community. To contribute to the Campaign now, please visit our secure giving page. If you would like to know more,
please call Traci Eckels at (415) 553-2357. Thank you.

What
does digital conversion mean for me, the television viewer?
Digital conversion means several things for you, the viewer. You
will be able to experience KQED Public Television in state-of-the-art,
high-definition television (HDTV) format. HDTV means a wider picture,
flawless images and CD-quality sound. Through digital conversion, KQED
will be able to multicast up to four separate broadcast streams on television.
Digital conversion will also mean enhanced broadcasting merging
video, audio, text, images and data. With KQED as your portal, you can
pursue virtually any subject of interest beyond the boundaries of traditional
television. Just use your television remote control or personal computer
