A new study finds that auto exhaust may
increase the risk for heart attacks and strokes. The
research focused on people living near freeways in Los
Angeles, and found that particulates in car exhaust
cause thickening of arteries. Also, the Berkeley City
Council meets this evening to untangle a web of city
rules pitting a marijuana dispensary against a French
school and a commercial landlord.

Most of Marin County is on its way to declaring
independence from PG&E. Last night, the Marin
Energy Authority Board approved a contract to buy
electricity from Shell Energy North America. Also, the
14th annual San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival started today.
