Glenda,

I think you have a right to speak your mind and I agree that it is very tough for working families today, who make too much money to receive a lot of benefits from the government, but not enough to feel secure economically. I hope though that you and your husband are better off than most people who do receive housing assistance.

The good news is that the income limits for families who receive weatherization assistance has increased from 150% of the poverty level to 200% of the poverty level. And as housing prices begin to stabilize in the next few years, perhaps you will be able to purchase a home.

And since saving energy is becoming a national priority, all of us may see more help to retrofit homes and apartment buildings to be more efficient, healthy, sustainable, and affordable.

Until then, best of luck finding the help that you need.

I'm pretty sure you're missing the point. Also, there are resources for people in your situation. Find them.

I just felt that I had to say something about this stimulus package. My Husband and I work hard every day. We pay our bills but we are too poor to go out and buy a house so we have to rent. I am understanding that they will be allocating monies for medicaid to help people with their medical but you have to make even less than we do in order to qualify, so my husband and I ages 60 and 55 are stuck still without medical. Yes he could go to the V.A. but now they are charging an arm and a leg to go there and they won't see him without money or insurance. Where do people like us fit in the economic stmulus bill? We can't even go to the doctor when we get sick. If we get too bad we have to go to the emergency room and pray that we are not too sick to have to in the hospital because they will tell us we need money or insurance!!!!!! There I said what I am sure a lot of other people in our situation have thought but never spoke up.
