What about Knoxville? I remember being shocked riding my bike down the Berryessa Knoxvill Rd from Lower Lake and seeing the Mercury mine and all the poison signs...they stopped a few miles before the lake where it became park and kids where playing in the stream! Then stream then dumps into the lake and I did not see any mercury signs around the lake. Now I don't even see that sight mentioned in your report.

Thanks,

Thanks for bringing to light this important Bay issue! Mercury is indeed one of San Francisco Bay’s most infamous pollutants. Because of the large amount of legacy mercury from the Gold Rush era, it’s critically important to reduce new inputs of mercury into the Bay.

To avoid exacerbating this problem, properly dispose of mercury-containing items at your local household hazardous waste facility.

For a list of safe disposal sites around the Bay, go to http://saveSFbay.org/dispose
