Intensity TV: Episode #111

Intense Drama: Dignity (June 23 at 8 p.m.)

Small Change (Kleingeld)
A successful businessman must contend with the loneliness in his life after economically befriending a homeless man. This film was Oscar-nominated for Best Short in 2000-- an event which has changed director Marc-Andreas Bochert's life. According to the German director, the notoriety has made him a focus for the tabloids and put his life under a microscope -- causing him to post-pone many projects that he had slated for future production because of the furor.

The Clearing
Two young people -- a recently escaped convict and the new mother of a blind baby -- wrestle with: freedom, responsibility and the hard choices that must be made in life. Writer/director Kat Smith says that her understanding of the film has changed since its inception—what started as a simple narrative became an expression of how people deal with the hard lessons that life hands out. The film was shot in Los Angeles over a period of six days.

Last Days of a Condemned Man
The story of a condemned man, his guard, and how they come to know and understand each other during the final days before the execution. Before beginning his film career, director Hassan Amini worked in advertising and as a photojournalist for the Associated Press. As a result of Last Days of a Condemned Man, Amini was invited to study at the prestigious American Film Institute.
