Intensity TV: Episode #110

Intense Drama: Do Animals Weep? (June 16 at 9 p.m.)

Protest
A herd of elephants use a cityscape -- and their bodies -- to make a dignified and desperate commentary on humankind's selfish disregard for the their future. With over 20 years of filmmaking experience under his belt, and as contributing editor for Millimeter Magazine, S. D. Katz's skill is evident as he holds the viewer's collective conscience to task with this beautiful and heart-wrenching animated short.

Puppies for Sale
A boy tries to buy the runt of a litter of puppies, for reasons that become clear later, in this story of understanding, empathy and personal growth. Academy Award-winner Jack Lemmon stars as the kindly shopkeeper in this heart-warming tale, directed by Ron Krauss. Puppies For Sale has garnered its share of recognition such as a finalist in the Berlin International Film Festival and as Best Short at the Aspen Shortfest.

Dolphins
A young girl trapped by the confines of her mental hospital finds refuge and escape in an underwater dreamworld filled with dolphins. The senior nurse finds her escape threatening and seeks to recapture her. This debut film -- written, directed, and produced by Farhad Yawari -- is a festival veteran with screenings at Slamdance and the Palm Springs International Film Festival among others. Yawari is an ex-patriot of Iran having escaped to Austria in 1984.
