CHUCK DAVIS, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Chuck Davis has worked as a director of photography and/or camera operator on several IMAX and IMAX-DOME feature documentaries including the Academy Award-nominated Alaska: Spirit of the Wild, and the Academy Award-nominated The Living Sea. Davis worked as an underwater camera operator on the Warner Brothers feature film, Sphere and his production experience includes work on C.L.I.O. Award-winning commercials and CINE Golden Eagle Award-winning documentaries.
MATT FERRARO, EXPEDITION TEAM MEMBER, MARINE OPERATIONS
Ferraro conducts location and background research for Voyage to Kure, as well as marine operations, DV camera/lighting operations, and digital and 35 mm still photography to document the expedition. He graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) in 1999 with a degree in Earth System Sciences and Policy. Ferraro's diving-related skills include rigging, surface supplied diving, decompression chamber operation, small boat handling, topside/underwater cable tending, and underwater lighting.
EVE GAGE, EDITOR
Eve Gage has been editing award-winning documentaries over the last twenty years for NOVA, NATURE, Discovery Channel, A&E, Turner Classic Movies, NBC and PBS. She has edited numerous documentaries covering some of the most innovative and challenging subjects in science, history, natural history, culture, and the environment. Her Emmy nominations include editing the Emmy award-winners Bob Hope: The First 90 Years and NOVA Galileo's Battle for the Heavens.
DEAN GRINSFELDER, COMPOSER
Dean Grinsfelder's award-winning work has been heard on feature films, television series, miniseries and Movies of the Week, TV commercials, film trailers, and interactive media. He has worked with studios and networks such as Disney, Discovery Channel, CBS, NBC, Fox/Marvel Films, Miramax Films, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Scott Free Productions. Grinsfelder received a 2004 Emmy award for music editing on Dinosaur Planet (a miniseries for Discovery Channel), and a 2003 Emmy nomination for his work on Before We Ruled the Earth (a Discovery Channel TV movie).
JIM KNOWLTON, ASSOCIATE PRODUCER, POST PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Since 1999, Jim Knowlton has worked with Ocean Futures Society, shooting and editing PSAs, conservation films and documentaries. He previously worked as underwater cameraman, editor and production manager on shark documentaries for the Discovery Channel. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in Environmental Studies and Geography, Jim worked for Truth Aquatics as a dive boat captain and as an environmental consultant with Woodward-Clyde Consultants in Santa Barbara, California. While serving as Associate Producer on Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Adventures television series, Jim has worked as editor, cameraman, assistant cameraman and post-production supervisor.
YVES LEFEVRE, UNDERWATER CAMERMAN/SHARK EXPERT
Yves Lefevre has captured images for Jacques Cousteau, Peter Benchley and Jean-Michel Cousteau, and served as an expert in the dangerous world of sharks. Since first learning to dive at age 13, Yves has rarely been out of the water. In 1983, he set out for French Polynesia for the first time and returned in 1985 to found the Manta Ray Club, the first dive shop in the Tutamoto archipelago-a haven for more than a dozen species of sharks. Yves has been a trusted colleague for Jean-Michel and his OFS team as they have gone face-to-face with the ocean's top predator.
HOLLY LOHUIS, EXPEDITION TEAM MEMBER AND EDUCATION ASSOCIATE
Lohuis is a marine biologist and naturalist, with expertise in both coral reef and Channel Islands ecology. With a degree in marine biology from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Lohuis has educated thousands of children about the wonders of the marine world and the need to protect them. A member of Jean-Michel Cousteau's team for more than a decade, she also actively trains for triathlons. Lohuis and her husband Derek make their home in Carpinteria, California, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
BLAIR MOTT, CHIEF DIVER
As Ocean Futures' Chief Diver, Mott's expert skills have enabled him to lead and supervise dive teams in over 45 different countries in a vast array of diving conditions. He is responsible for training the expedition team in advanced diving techniques and helps to design, test and maintain a wide variety of critical marine operations equipment. A graduate of Santa Barbara City College's world-renowned marine technology program, Mott has logged over 5000 hours under water, including time spent working on the Keiko Project in Iceland.
DON SANTEE, LINE PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR OF EXPEDITIONS
Santee has worked side by side with both Jean-Michel Cousteau and Jacques Cousteau for over three decades. Assuming diverse duties as a production manager, he coordinates everything from diving expeditions to film logistics. An underwater photographer for books and magazines, he has also worked on over 18 television documentaries. In addition to acting as the team's medical officer, Santee is also responsible for training the Ocean Futures team on advanced technical dive procedures and working with state-of-the-art closed circuit rebreathers. Santee makes his home in Santa Barbara, California with his wife Hillary and son Edward.
PAMELA STACEY, PRODUCER/WRITER
Pamela Stacey is an Emmy and Cine Golden Eagle award-nominated writer for a variety of film projects, from network documentary and natural history series, to feature films. She has worked as producer and writer of an ABC special on dolphins, and writer of films for the Cousteau Society/Turner Broadcasting and IMAX feature films. She has served as story editor and writer for projects with PBS, National Geographic, Sea Studios, Lobos Associates and European film productions. Stacey has a Master's Degree in literature and is the author of five books. She has fifteen years of writing and editing experience for The Cousteau Society, including a children's magazine, The Dolphin Log, and a children's book series.
BYRON THOMPSON, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND EDITOR
Byron Thompson earned an MFA in Film and Video Production at the USC School of Cinema-TV in Los Angeles. He produced and directed his first feature film, Stonebrook, starring Seth Green and Brad Rowe. Thompson served as vice president of post production and worldwide servicing at Beverly Hills-based World International Network, LLC, a film production and distribution company. Among other writing projects, Thompson re-wrote and directed Warrior Angels for Weintraub/Kuhn Productions. In late 2002, he joined Jean-Michel Cousteau to develop a new TV series, H2O. He is now the Creative Director and Editor of the six-part series Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures.
