PUBLIC RADIO
Press Kit
Q & A with Michael Krasny, host of Forum

How did you decide on a career in radio?
I was (and still am) a university professor looking to make a greater impact beyond the classroom and thinking I might like hosting a television or radio show. Then fate converged. I have been the host of Forum for nearly 10 years.

What role does public radio play in today's crowded media market?
It continues to play the role of providing out-of-the-mainstream coverage as well as greater in-depth analysis. It tackles more intellectually challenging and educational subjects not accessible in mainstream media.

Within that framework, what do you see as Forum's role?
Forum's role is singularly important in providing a platform for voices and discussions not heard elsewhere as well as a higher level of discourse also generally not heard elsewhere.

What makes Forum unique among talk-radio shows?
Probably it is unique in its aspirations -- which are consistently high.

With the advent of streaming radio broadcasts and with Forum now being broadcast via the Sirius satellite network, your potential audience becomes global. What does the future hold in store for the program?
The program will likely continue to expand its radio base of listeners and reach more people with the exciting, educational and communal qualities that we like to think we send airborne throughout the Bay Area each workday.
