| KQED Public Radio's Forum |
Forum is a live public affairs program broadcast in the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout Northern California, and now nationwide via Sirius Satellite Radio. This award-winning program presents balanced panel discussions of local, state, national and world issues, as well as in-depth, one-on-one interviews with leading figures in politics, science, entertainment and the arts. The program airs each weekday morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
Forum has attracted a loyal and growing audience since it premiered nearly 15 years ago on KQED Public Radio. Listeners are encouraged to phone in with comments and questions, and help frame the discussions with their input. Today it is one of the Bay Area's most popular morning radio programs.
Host Michael Krasny is a professor of English at San Francisco State University and has more than 20 years of experience as a radio and television host. His professionalism, thorough research and intelligent approach in handling a diverse range of subjects are hallmarks of the program.
In February 2001, Angie Coiro became Friday host of Forum. She has a career history in public broadcasting dating back to her days as a volunteer at the local PBS station in South Bend, Indiana. She began working as an announcer/operator for KQED Public Radio in 1989. Coiro can also be heard filling in as anchor on KQED Radio News and for KQED's The California Report.
Forum also boasts a robust Web site at kqed.org/forum, which features: audio archives; a complete list of authors and books featured on the program; a listener suggestion list for books, film and music; and a discussion board for listeners to post their thoughts and comments on issues raised on the air. Visitors to the site can also order copies of the programs on either cassette or CD.
Forum is produced by Hermione Gee, Robin Gianattassio-Malle and Keven Guillory. The executive producer is Raúl Ramirez. Jo Anne Wallace is vice president and general manager of KQED Public Radio.
Funding for the production of Forum is provided by the members of KQED Public Radio, the Claude and Louise Rosenberg, Jr. Family Foundation, The Bernard Osher Foundation, the Columbia Foundation and the Steve and Anita Westly Foundation.
