| May Brings More Public Affairs Programming to Friday Nights on KQED Public Television 9 |
San Francisco, California-- Beginning Friday, May 6, to coincide with the season premiere of California Connected, KQED Public Television 9 will alter its Friday evening lineup. The new schedule broadens the range of public affairs programs airing on Friday nights and places more emphasis on local and statewide current affairs. The new Friday night lineup is:
- 6:00-7:00pm The Newshour With Jim Lehrer
- 7:00-7:30pm Nightly Business Report
- 7:30-8:00pm This Week in Northern California
- 8:00-8:30pm Washington Week
- 8:30-9:00pm California Connected
California Connected, which begins its fourth season on May 6, joins the Friday lineup at 8:30pm, from its previous air time of 10:00pm on Thursdays. Hosted by Lisa McRee and produced through a unique collaboration between KCET-Los Angeles, KPBS-San Diego, KQED-San Francisco and KVIE-Sacramento, California Connected is a statewide weekly news magazine program, with an eye toward connecting people in the state through strong storytelling. This season marks the launch of a new 30-minute format with reporting based entirely on location.
Hosted by Belva Davis and currently in its 15th season, This Week in Northern California moves to 7:30pm from its previous air time of 8:30pm on Fridays. This move is the first step in KQED Public Television's upcoming launch of a slate of locally-produced 30-minute programs that will air at 7:30pm every day Monday through Friday.
Wall $treet Week With Fortune does not appear on the new Friday night schedule, having recently announced the end of the series. Until its final episode on June 26, it can be seen on Sundays at 1:30pm.
