Children, Parents, Families and Communities to Join KQED in Celebration of "Dia de Los Niños /Dia de Los Libros"

KQED Education Network to Honor Traditional Latin Holiday with Family Day of Fun, Fantasy and Creativity

Fourth Annual Celebration to be Held Sunday, April 27th at Dolores Park

San Francisco, April 7, 2003 -- For the second consecutive year, KQED is partnering with local community-based organizations to celebrate Dia de Los Niños /Dia de Los Libros a celebration of children and books (that's the English tag line) on Sunday, April 27 from 1-4 p.m. at Dolores Park. All events and activities are free and open to the public. More information is available by calling the KQED Education Network information line toll-free, 1-800-723-ELMO (3566).

A day to celebrate children and reading will include enchanting and amazing dance and musical performances by Flying Angels Chinese Dance Company, Kucheza Ngoma Dance Company (Senegalese and Congolese Dance) and Loco Bloco a multigenerational Afro-cuban percussion ensemble , as well as bilingual storytelling. Art activities provided by KQED, Bay Area Discovery Museum, Museum of Craft and Folk Art and Zeum, promise to make this a wonderful family event.

Sponsors of Dia de Los Niños /Dia de Los Libros include the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Children's Book Press, KQED Public Broadcasting, Mission Learning Center, San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Their Families, San Francisco Public Library, San Francisco Unified School District, University of San Francisco, and Zeum.
