Meet in the Middle

There were tears and cheers this week when the State Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8. But both sides of the gay marriage debate know this week's ruling won't be the last word. The battleground is moving to places like the Central Valley and the Inland Empire, where same-sex marriage proponents are working to win more support. This weekend, thousands of gay and lesbian activists from across California will be in Fresno where 68 percent of voters supported Prop. 8.

New Federal Lawsuit Takes on Prop 8

David Boies and Ted Olson make an odd couple. The two represented opposing sides in the Bush v. Gore election challenge which ushered George W. Bush into power. But now the two have joined forces on behalf of same-sex marriage. Yesterday they filed a lawsuit in federal court arguing that California's Proposition 8 violates the U.S. constitution.
