Early Childhood Educators
KQED offers free professional development workshops for early childhood professionals and informal child care providers to demonstrate the use of educational, research-based PBS children's programs, along with theme-related books, and age-appropriate activities, to enhance children's early learning experiences.
Valuing and Nurturing the Young Child: A Multimedia Approach to Social and Emotional Development (4 sessions)
Help young children self-regulate, manage their emotions, and appreciate the value of their unique abilities. With trusted PBS programs such as Mister Rogers, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Dragon Tales, you'll learn how to nurture a child's social and emotional development.
1, 2, 3 & Beyond! A Multimedia Approach to Math Beginnings (3 sessions)
Math is learned best through everyday activities in a child's natural environment. Learn ways to encourage math as a way of thinking. Foster emerging math skills, such as geometry and number operations and discover how Big Bird, Barney and Curious George can motivate children to have fun while learning!
Stay Curious with PBS's Sid the Science Kid! (3 sessions)
In this fun workshop you'll learn how preschoolers can learn to think and act like scientists, and how you can help. You'll walk away with science tools, activity ideas, and concrete strategies that will help children develop confidence in themselves as explorers and learners.
Talk It Up! A Multimedia Approach to Early Literacy (3 sessions)
Children thrive in environments that support language through play and daily interactions between adults and other children. Learn how to encourage young children's speaking and listening skills with a whole cast of PBS characters that get children excited about talking, listening and laughing.
