KQED is proud to celebrate the richness and diversity of the greater San Francisco Bay Area by commemorating Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Month. In June, KQED Public Television 9 and KQED Public Radio 88.5 FM broadcast a special lineup of programs focused on Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender themes and issues.

Community LGBT Pride Celebration at the Castro Theatre

On June 4, KQED and Union Bank celebrated LGBT Local Heroes with an event at the Castro Theatre. It was hosted by Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge (The Fabulous Beekman Boys and The Amazing Race) at a community celebration featuring 42nd Street Moon, San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, Voices Lesbian Choral Ensemble and more.

Nominate a 2014 Bay Area Local Hero for LGBT Pride Month

June is Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride Month and KQED is seeking nominations for Bay Area Local Heroes. We are interested in individuals who have demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to community service. The deadline is Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
