Shotgun Players perform Ubu for President, Josh Costello's adaptation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi, which caused a riot when it debuted in 1896. Why? The title chracter. "He is everything that is foul in the world... devoid of any redeeming characterstic. He is not diluted with Iago's cunning or Macbeth's guilt and somehow he is not unlike us." Or unlike politics in 2008.
Ubu for President runs through September 14, 2008 in John Hinkel Park. For tickets and information visit shotgunplayers.org.
