Position Summary
The Project Supervisor, Annual Major Gifts & Communications is responsible for solicitation and other communication for cultivation and stewardship activities for major donors solicited by mail who give more than $1,500 annually, along with all related support activities. This includes: all aspects of direct mail solicitation; implementation of on-air and in-print donor recognition, communication and print materials, and coordination with Team Approach systems. This position is the primary writer and creator of written materials for Individual Major Gifts.
Position Accountabilities
1. Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Major Donor Operations, this position implements comprehensive plans for major donor direct mail program. Specifically tasks include: defining segments, writing appropriately targeted solicitations and acknowledgement letters; defining calendar of production schedule for monthly renewals mailing and special mailings as defined by Director, Major Donor Operations and the Sr. Director, Leadership Gifts; and producing the mailings. Receives support from the Development Associate, Annual Major Gifts in production of mailings and other work as managed by the Director, Major Donor Operations. (50%)
2. Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Major Donor Operations, this position is responsible for implementation and helping develop overall comprehensive plan for major donor communications including all preparation and manual updates needed to send out monthly QED IN, updating the web site, monthly one-touch mailings, coordinating the development of Go Public and printed marketing materials (brochures, printed collateral, etc.) This position is also responsible for planning and implementing the annual update of the KQED Donor Wall and Annual Report listings. (30%)
3. This position will serve as the primary writer of donor/prospect communications for the Leadership Gifts team. This will include: drafting new solicitation letters (renewals, lapsed, and additional gifts); adjusting and updating acknowledgement letters throughout the year; creating "one touch" informational communications (either physical letters or emails) on a semi-monthly basis to keep donors informed about the uses of their gifts; creating occasional proposals for donors who request more detailed information on a given topic; and writing articles for the Go Public newsletter, The Guide, and Preview. Other ad hoc writing requests as needed. This position will also develop written materials as defined by the Director, Major Donor Operations, the Chief Development Officer and Sr. Director for Leadership Gifts. (20%)
4. Other essential duties as required.
Position Requirements
1. Minimum of two years experience in development, preferably in the annual
fund or major gift area.
2. Outstanding project management skills and experience.
3. Proficiency with MS Office and database management, Quark; Photoshop; and
Illustrator.
4. Excellent writing and editing skills.
5. The individual should be energetic, self-directed and assertive, but also
flexible, creative and understanding.
6. Communication and interpersonal skills must be at the highest possible level.
7. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
