New Media Internship
Division: Marketing
Department: Communications
Terms Available:
Winter Term: September–December
Spring Term: January–April
Summer Term: May–August
Please apply two months prior to start of term.

Internship Summary:
The Communications Department includes public relations, advertising, government affairs and community relations. The department creates and distributes all promotional materials and program-based advertising for NCPB. New Media Interns extend the efforts of the department by assisting with outreach and promotion utilizing social networking sites, web 2.0 applications, and other new technology.

Internship Duties:
go Creates, updates and maintains KQED, KTEH and KQET online presence through social networking sites: MySpace, Facebook, etc.
go Pitches NCPB content to online media outlets, including relevant blogs and website editors.
go Searches the Web & directories for relevant, quality content (podcasts, video, blogs, etc.).
go
Researches new contacts for future projects.
go Assists with online ad placements and design.
go Prepares online analysis and creates reports and recommendations for future projects.
go Performs other duties as required.
go  
Internship Qualifications:
go Interest and/or experience in new media.
go Computer skills essential, including basic HTML, design and word processing skills.
go Strong organizational research skills, including online research.
go Self starter.
go Ability to multitask.
go Excellent oral and written communication skills.
go Ability to take direction and to work independently
go Interest and ability to stay current with new media developments..
