Inside the KQED.org New Navigation

Many of our KQED.org visitors are "regulars" looking for specific information such as what's airing right now or more about a favorite program. So the primary goal of the global navigation redesign is to create quick (one-click) access from every page of the site to these popular areas, including programs, schedules, blogs and Listen Live.

Another goal is to better help people discover the wealth and depth of our daily local coverage through blog posts, news articles, event picks, reviews, guides to fun things to do, recipes, videos, and more.

The hover menu design provides flexibility to easily add items as new pages and areas are created. This menu style frees up more space for the content, making it easier to read, watch and interact with.

Goals for the new navigation:

  • Enhance at-a-glance viewing.
  • Increase the amount of well-organized information.
  • Provide universal access to the relevant and most-used pages of the site.
  • Create a footer menu that mirrors the header menu and is equally useful and consistent.

We hope you like the improvements! Do you have helpful feedback about the new navigation? Share your thoughts with us.
