Parking Meter Proposal

Download audio (MP3)

A new San Francisco parking meter study calls for extending meter hours in some commercial districts of the city. Oakland recently tried a similar plan but reversed course in the face of complaints from local businesses and residents. We'll examine the San Francisco proposal.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Andy Thornley, program director of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, which supports the parking meter proposal
  • Judson True, media relations manager for MUNI
  • Maria Cristina Gutierrez, director of Companeros Del Barrio, a daycare center in San Francisco's Mission District -- she testified against the meter proposal
  • Stephen Cornell, owner of Brownie's Hardware, chairperson of Small Business Advocates and board member of the Council of District Merchants
