The Business of Medical Marijuana

Download audio (MP3)

In February, the Obama administration directed the Justice Department not to raid pot growers who comply with state law. In this era of calm, the business of medical marijuana is booming -- from pot dispensaries to marketers of medical marijuana and lobbyists for the cause. We look at the business of medical marijuana and talk to those who say the industry can help California's ailing economy.

Host: Scott Shafer

Guests:

  • Dale Gieringer, director of California NORML, a non-profit membership organization dedicated to reforming California's marijuana laws
  • Marcus Wohlsen, reporter for the Associated Press
  • Mark Kleiman, professor of public policy at UCLA and editor of the Journal of Drug Policy Analysis
  • Wayne Justman, consultant for San Francisco medical marijuana dispensaries
