Antitrust Policy / One Big Lie

Download audio (MP3)

Yesterday, the Obama administration announced changes in antitrust enforcement, signaling a significant departure from Bush era policies. During the first half hour, the program talks with Howard A. Shelanski, professor of law at the University of California, Berkeley Boalt School of Law and director of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology; and Thomas Barnett, partner at Covington & Burling law firm and former assistant attorney general of the Justice Departments Antitrust Division. In the second half hour, the program talks with producer Marcela Gaviria of PBS Frontlines The Madoff Affair about Bernie Madoffs Ponzi scheme that cost investors $65 billion. We look at how so many sophisticated clients, fund managers and regulators were fooled. The Madoff Affair airs tonight on KQED-TV.
