Special Election Series -- Propositions 1B and 1C

Download audio (MP3)

We continue our series on the May 19 special election with a split hour looking at Prop. 1B and Prop. 1C. In the first half hour, we analyze the details on Prop. 1B's proposal to mandate payments that equal $9.3 billion to California schools over the next few years. In the second half hour, we discuss Prop. 1C. It asks voters to decide whether to increase California Lottery ticket sales, and allow the state to borrow from future California Lottery profits.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Tom Campbell, former congressman, former director of finance for the State of California, former dean of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and Republican gubernatorial candidate (first half hour)
  • Jennifer Kuhn, director of K-12 education at the California Legislative Analyst's Office (first half hour)
  • Don Dawson, math teacher at East Side Union High School District in San Jose and a board member of the California Teacher's Association (first half hour)
