Declining Demand for H1-B Visas

Download audio (MP3)

The usual rush for companies to apply for H1-B visas for highly skilled foreign workers has slowed way down this year. We look at what the economic downturn means for Silicon Valley companies and the workers they hire under H1-B visas. We'll also discuss the political pressures to change the program, in light of widespread job losses for American-born workers.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Neeraj Sharma, president of Radiansys, an IT consulting firm

  • Tom Abate, staff writer covering economics for The San Francisco Chronicle
  • Vish Mishra, venture capitalist with Clear Stone Venture Partners and president of the Silicon Valley Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs
