Download audio (MP3)

The FCC has ruled that after February 17th of next year, over-the-air TV broadcasts will be digital only. The transition means that consumers with older televisions will have to install a converter box to continue to receive a signal. In the first half hour, we talk with an FCC commissioner about the details. In the second half hour, we examine newly released California high school exit exam statistics.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Jonathan Adelstein, commissioner with the Federal Communications Commission (first half hour)
  • Michael Kirst, professor emeritus of education and business administration at Stanford University (second half hour)
  • Nanette Asimov, K-12 education reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle (second half hour)
