Great white sharks are disappearing from California waters and should be protected under the U.S. Endangered Species Act, according to a petition filed by environmental groups this week. We discuss the proposal and find out what is threatening the sharks.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • David McGuire, marine biologist and founder of the nonprofit Sea Stewards, one of the environmental groups which filed the petition
  • John McCosker, senior scientist and chair of the department of aquatic biology at the California Academy of Sciences
