From backyard rockets and solar-powered hot tubs to homemade cheese, the do-it-yourself movement has surged in popularity in recent years. The grand gathering of DIY-ers is taking place this weekend at the 5th annual Maker Faire in San Mateo. Tinkerers from miles around will share their high-tech, low-tech and no-tech creations.
