    Dinosaur Train [#225] Dinosaur Train Submarine: Maisie Mosasaurus/Date Night The Pteranodon family goes back underwater in the Dinosaur Train Submarine and meet Maisie and Marvin Mosasaurus, a daughter and father who are huge, fast-swimming lizards with flippers. Maisie and Shiny bond when they discover neither likes to go down deep in the water. The Pteranodons and Mosasaurus have a great time up near the ocean's surface, each family showing the other how they hunt and catch fish to eat. When Mrs. Pteranodon announces that she and Mr. Pteranodon are going on a special anniversary date that night, and the Pteranodon kids will have their first babysitter ever, the kids are not very happy. The babysitter is Keira Chirostenotes, a responsible, patient teenager. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don each take almost the whole evening to warm up to her. While Mom and Dad are on their date on the Dinosaur Night Train, Mom is relaxed, but Dad really misses the kids and can't stop thinking about them. All is going well on the trek over until Nature Cat accidentally breaks the compass! Uh oh, now how are they going to tell which direction to go in? [#130H] Total Eclipse of the Sunspot/Sean's Year In Space "Total Eclipse of the Sunspot" - While Mindy, Jet, Sean, and Sydney are trying to use a solar panel to improve their energy efficiency, they notice that Sunspot is acting strange. It turns out that Sunspot was aware of an impending eclipse and was trying to alert the kids to the fact that the Sun would be darkened for a while. Curriculum: A solar eclipse is a type of eclipse that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. It's important not to look directly at the Sun during an eclipse, but you can watch it through the use of a box viewer. "Sean's Year in Space" - Sean is excited by NASA's "Year in Space" program on the ISS, and decides to try to live for a year in the tree house without ever coming down. The kids keep interrupting him, and finally, after only a short afternoon of trying, he comes down for dinner. Curriculum: The International Space Station, or ISS, is home to several astronauts at a time, who come and go in small capsules like the Soyuz. Inez, who cares deeply for animals, soon realizes the bike path has divided the habitats of many of Tikiville's cute, cuddly creatures. Creature families have been split up, and the busy bike path is preventing animals from reaching their food and water sources. Inez feels the bike path should be shut down, but Creech doesn't want to take away the benefits the path has created for her community. The disagreement drives a wedge between the two good friends. The two of them are great buddies who love to play underwater games, frolic with fish, and do other wacky water things in this idyllic underwater paradise. When Digit arrives, something is wrong. Mermaidos is murky and warm and the fish are leaving in droves. Digit feels terrible for his pal Eugene and promises to do what he can to make things right. It turns out Hacker has put a plan in motion to turn Mermaidos into his own personal hot tub! He is making the water hotter and hotter, raising the temperature to a hot 100 cyber-degrees- a temperature that would make Mermaidos uninhabitable for the Mermaidians and force them to move out.     Thomas & Friends [#805H] Fun in the Snow Let it Snow - Gordon and Thomas go to Misty Island to collect logs for Farmer McColl's animal shelter. The Logging Locos tell them that there is no snow on Misty Island because they haven't chuffed The Misty Island Snow Song. They need to puff to the top of a hill and stay still, then go to the sea and wait patiently - then snow will appear! Gordon doesn't believe that snow will appear but Thomas begins to race to the top of the hill and to the sea as the snow song says. THOMAS doesn't take care of his job to take the logs to Farmer McColl's and the snow doesn't appear. When Thomas is really useful and gathers all the logs for Farmer McColl, the snow starts to fall. Gordon and Thomas sing the snow song together and happily head back to help Farmer McColl. Percy the Snowman - Thomas is asked to take Sir Topham Hatt to switch on the Christmas tree lights in the Town Square. Thomas is excited to see Percy, but Percy is feeling sad because he doesn't have a special so Thomas asks Percy to go with him to collect Sir Topham Hatt. Thomas asks Percy to wait in a siding while he rushes to get his jobs finished. Thomas races so fast that he doesn't realize he covers Percy with snow every time he rushes past. Percy is so covered in snow that Thomas can't find him. Thomas finds Percy under the snow but Percy's firebox has gone out. Now Percy won't be able to go to see the Christmas lights and he is sad.     Thomas & Friends [#809H] Special Times Surprise Surprise - It's the Winter Holidays on Sodor and Thomas is excited because that means it is party time! However Thomas' friends need help. Percy has a cracked coupling rod, Edward's pistons are popping and Stanley has a faulty firebox. Thomas brings them all to the Steam Works to be fixed. Victor is so busy that he won't be able to fix all the engines in time for the party, so Thomas decides to bring the party to the Steam Works but doesn't tell Victor. Thomas asks Rocky to deliver the Christmas tree but Rocky drops it in front of Kevin and causes chaos. Thomas realizes he should have told Victor about the party. Thomas tells Victor about the party and soon all the engines help to get ready. The star is fixed on the tree and the engines have a great party. Tree Trouble - It's the winter holidays and Dowager Hatt, declares a competition to see who can find the tallest and grandest Christmas tree on Sodor. It's the Diesels versus the Steamies as Thomas leads the chase to find the best tree. Thomas and the Diesels race to Misty Island and ask the Logging Locos where they can find the best tree. When they found the perfect trees and began the racing fast back to Sodor, the trees fall off their flatbeds. and are destroyed. The engines go back to the Diesel Works without their trees and Thomas tells Dowager Hatt the news. Thomas decides to go back to Misty Island, chooses a perfect tree and gives it to the Diesels for their Diesel Works. The tree is decorated and looks perfect.     Caillou [#409] Winter! Wintertime brings lots of new experiences. Sarah teaches Caillou to build a snowman, Dad helps him stay upright on his ice skates (and picks him up when he falls down), and Mom shows Caillou the fine points of downhill skiing, including how not to be afraid of the ski lift. When Caillou and Dad get to the vendor too late to buy a good Christmas tree, they decorate one in the yard instead. All the beautiful colored lights chase away the winter gloom.     Bob the Builder [#906] What A Build! Bentley's Bones: The Natural History Museum is receiving its first exhibit, a full sized Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, and Bob and the team are finishing off the new extension. However, Leo discovers that Mr. Bentley provided the incorrect dimensions of the doors for the new extension. The dinosaur skeleton will not fit through them! Per Lofty's suggestion, the team dismantles the skeleton. They have difficulty reassembling it, but the photo on Leo's phone acts as an adequate guide and the team is able to successfully complete the job. Learning Goals: To explore size comparisons. To explore following a plan/guide for building or rebuilding. To appreciate the consequences of one's decisions and actions. Bear's Mountain: The zoo is preparing for a bear's arrival and needs Bob and the team to finish building the new bear enclosure. Bob plans a three-tiered natural habitat that resembles a rocky mountain, but Scoop is thinking bigger. With the other machines to help him, Scoop builds the structure higher--too high--and it collapses. Bob considers Scoop's attempt and redesigns the mountain to be four levels. The crate arrives and two bears, a mother and her cub, are set to enjoy their new enclosure. Learning Goals: To explore animal habitats and animal needs. To learn about taking apologizing and taking responsibility for one's actions. To recognize the value of learning from mistakes. The Earth kids are nervous that he will get in front of a crowd of strangers and forget to keep the secret that he's an alien from Bortron 7. After a hilarious outburst from Jet, the kids are motivated to try to "train" him to behave less like an alien from outer space, and more like a "regular Earthie kid."       *UPDATE: The tower crew will work the Fremont peak tower as of 11am, Thursday, Nov 30th. We will need to lower power on KQET, Channel 25, to 25% at 10:30am through 4-5pm. Thank you for your patience!

    • Scheduled Maintenance 8/21-8/25

      Next week, Sutro Tower will be switching most stations to their auxiliary antennas. KQED TV will be at half power on the lower auxiliary antenna, this will affect some of our Over The Air viewers. Maintenance is scheduled on August 21-25 from 9am through 4pm daily.       (DT25.1 through 25.3) Recent storms have taken out dozens of trees on Fremont Peak, which in turn have taken down power lines leading to the transmission tower located on the peak.
