PBS NewsHour Weekend [#874H] Meet The Frugalwoods In 2014, Liz Willard Thames and her husband were both 30-year old professionals with nine-to-five jobs in Boston when they decided to make a radical change in their lives and attempt to retire as soon as possible. The couple embarked on a plan of saving more than 70 percent of their take-home pay, and moved to a rural homestead in the Vermont woods. Liz started documenting their shift to frugality on a blog called "Frugalwoods," posting about the extremes they went to on their way to becoming self-described "frugal weirdos." Not only did they stop eating out, and buying new clothes, they also sought out furniture on the street and even searched dumpsters for items they could easily afford to purchase. This month, HarperCollins is publishing Thames's book "Meet the Frugalwoods: Achieving Financial Independence Through Simple Living." NewsHour Weekend's Christopher Booker reports. duration 24:10   STEREO TVRE
